System: Body (B-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: ADAS Pedestrian Alert Speaker Circuit
Code B0123: Pedestrian Alert Speaker B
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code B0123 (Pedestrian Alert Speaker B) sets when the module cannot drive the exterior pedestrian alert speaker (used on hybrid/EV platforms to emit an audible warning at low speed) to its commanded output, or the speaker's circuit reads open, shorted, or draws current outside the expected range. Because the speaker is mounted in the front fascia or underbody, exposure to road spray, salt, and debris makes a corroded connector or a water-damaged speaker cone the most common causes. This is a pedestrian-safety feature rather than a driver convenience item, so the fault should not be deferred even though it does not affect vehicle drivability.
