System: Chassis (C-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Traction Torque Request Signal
Code C0073: Delivered Driving Torque
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code C0073 (Delivered Driving Torque) sets when the chassis stability module does not receive a plausible driving-torque value from the powertrain control module over the vehicle network, or the engine/hybrid controller does not confirm delivery of the torque reduction the stability system requested during a traction event. This is a network/communication-layer fault rather than a chassis sensor problem, most often traced to a dropped or delayed CAN message, a powertrain control module software mismatch, or a wiring fault on the shared torque-request signal circuit. Because ESC relies on accurate torque data to calculate wheel slip corrections, an unresolved fault here can make traction control interventions feel harsh or delayed.
