System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Battery Temp Sensor Circuit
Code P0514: Battery Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0514 (Battery Temperature Sensor Circuit Range/Performance) sets when the ECM/BCM sees an open, shorted, or out-of-range signal from the battery temperature sensor used to compensate charging voltage for ambient/battery temperature. Causes are a corroded sensor connector at the battery tray, a failed thermistor element, or chafed wiring routed near the battery terminals.
