System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: AC Compressor Current Sensor
Code P0EAF: A/C Compressor Motor Current Sensor Circuit Low
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0EAF sets when the control module detects an implausible reading from the electric A/C compressor motor's current sensor — the value disagrees with the compressor's commanded speed and the refrigerant-system load it should be working against. The most common physical causes are a corroded or loose connector at the current sensor inside the compressor's integrated inverter, a damaged shunt or Hall-effect sensing element, and chafed signal wiring picking up noise from the adjacent motor phase leads. Because the compressor's current draw should track refrigerant pressure, a reading that disagrees with system pressure points toward the sensor itself rather than a genuine mechanical compressor fault.
