Code P240F: EGR Slow Response
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P240F (EGR Slow Response) sets when the ECM commands an EGR valve position change and the measured response is slower than the calibrated rate, or overall EGR performance falls outside its adaptive-learn window, without triggering a discrete flow-insufficient or flow-excessive flag. The dominant cause is carbon and soot coking the valve pintle or shaft so it moves sluggishly, followed by a weakening return spring or a partially fouled EGR passage restricting flow.

This is the first procedure in the authored
consideration order, not a measured cause likelihood. Execute it only when its prerequisites
and diagnostic findings support it. Its cost and labor estimates (where known), the step-by-step procedure and the
remaining 3 procedure(s) are in the licensed dataset. Ordering context.
