System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: DPF Forced Limited Power
Code P246C: Particulate Filter Restriction - Forced Limited Power Bank 1
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P246C (Particulate Filter Restriction - Forced Limited Power Bank 1) sets when the ECM detects the DPF is restricted enough that it derates engine power to protect the filter and turbo from an uncontrolled thermal event during an eventual regeneration, a more advanced stage than a standard soot-accumulation warning. Causes are a long stretch of driving with no completed regeneration, a stuck-closed EGR cooler bypass adding extra soot, or a failed differential pressure sensor preventing the ECM from ever commanding regeneration.

Perform immediate forced DPF regeneration
Professional Required
This is the first procedure in the authored
consideration order, not a measured cause likelihood. Execute it only when its prerequisites
and diagnostic findings support it. Its cost and labor estimates (where known), the step-by-step procedure and the
remaining 2 procedure(s) are in the licensed dataset. Ordering context.
