System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Low Pressure Fuel Sensor Circuit
Code P2540: Low Pressure Fuel System Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2540 (Low Pressure Fuel System Sensor Circuit Range/Performance) sets when the ECM sees an open, shorted, out-of-range, or intermittent signal from the pressure sensor monitoring the low-pressure (lift pump to high-pressure pump inlet) side of the fuel system, distinct from the high-pressure rail sensor. Causes are a corroded sensor connector, a failed sensor element from fuel contamination, or chafed wiring along the low-pressure fuel line.
