Code P277F: Clutch B Unexpected Mechanical Gear Disengagement
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P277F (Clutch B Unexpected Mechanical Gear Disengagement) sets when shaft-speed monitoring shows a gear that was fully engaged has mechanically popped out of engagement without a command, either in the main gearbox or on a specific clutch path of a dual-clutch transmission. This indicates real mechanical wear: rounded engagement dog teeth on the affected gear and sleeve, a worn shift fork letting the sleeve back out under load, or a weakened detent spring no longer holding the fork in position.
