System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: DCT Clutch Motor Position Sensor
Code P28DB: Clutch B Motor Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P28DB (Clutch B Motor Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance) sets when the TCM sees an open, shorted, or implausible signal from the rotor position sensor inside a clutch actuator motor, which the driver electronics need to commutate the brushless motor and infer clutch apply position. A failed sensor makes the motor run rough or not at all, so the usual suspects are the sensor's connector at the actuator, debris on the sensor's magnetic target, and an internally failed sensor requiring actuator replacement.
