System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Reductant Freeze Protection Performance
Code P2D45: Reductant Temperature Too Low
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2D45 (Reductant Temperature Too Low) covers the intermediate heater-supply voltage stage and temperature performance checks that protect diesel exhaust fluid from freezing in cold weather, separate from the individual tank/line temperature sensor circuit codes. The ECM flags an intermediate voltage reading outside its expected window or a measured reductant temperature that stays too low despite the heater being commanded on. Causes are a degraded heater relay or voltage-boost circuit, a partially failed heater element that cannot fully thaw the system, or a corroded connector in the heater supply path.
