AC Refrigerant Distribution Valve

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0EC9 sets when the control module commands the A/C refrigerant distribution valve to route refrigerant between circuits — such as cabin cooling and battery chilling on platforms that share a refrigerant loop — and the valve's position feedback does not match the commanded state. The most common physical causes are refrigerant-oil residue gumming the valve's sliding element, a corroded or unseated actuator connector, and an internally worn valve motor. Unlike the coolant valves elsewhere in this family group, this valve routes pressurized refrigerant rather than liquid coolant, so its repair uses refrigerant-recovery procedures rather than a coolant drain-and-fill.

These 10 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 10 times.
