Battery Charger 14V Output Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0D42 sets when the control module detects the onboard charger's auxiliary 14V output — the buck-converted supply the charger provides to the 12V system while plugged in — has fallen outside its regulated voltage window. The most common physical causes are a degraded output filter capacitor inside the charger that lets ripple through, a corroded output-wire connection at the 12V junction/fuse box, and an aging 12V accessory battery that pulls the regulated output down under load. Because this is the charger's low-voltage side, diagnosis and repair do not require opening the HV enclosure.

These 11 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 11 times.
