Catalyst Heater Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0429 (Catalyst Heater Control Circuit/Open Bank 1) sets when the ECM detects an open circuit, out-of-range current, incorrect supply voltage, or an intermittent/performance fault while driving the electric heating element that pre-heats a catalyst for faster cold-start light-off. Causes are a failed heater element, a blown fuse or failed relay in the heater supply circuit, or corroded/chafed wiring between the ECM and the heater.

These 12 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 12 times.
