Charging System Precharge Contactor

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0E6A sets when the battery management system commands the onboard charger's precharge contactor — which limits inrush current through a resistor before the charger's main contactors close at the start of a session — open or closed, and its feedback or the resulting voltage ramp does not confirm the commanded state. The most common physical causes are a failed precharge resistor inside the charger, a coil winding failure in the small precharge contactor itself, and a corroded coil-driver connector. Because this contactor only ever carries brief, current-limited precharge energy, its wear pattern differs from the charger's full-current main contactors — light erosion rather than heavy pitting or welding.

These 7 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 7 times.
