Chassis Warning Indicator Switch Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code C0081 (ABS Malfunction Indicator) sets when the module cannot drive the ABS, brake, traction, or vehicle-dynamics warning lamp to its commanded state, or a driver-operated traction-control disable switch or mode-select input reports an open, shorted, or implausible signal. Because these are simple driver-facing lamp driver and switch-input circuits rather than sensors, the usual causes are a failed switch contact, a burned-out bulb or LED driver stage, or corrosion in the instrument cluster or switch connector. A stuck-active disable switch signal can also unintentionally leave traction control off, so confirming actual driver intent is a useful first check.

These 8 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 8 times.
