Control Pilot Charging Switch

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0CF8 sets when the control pilot charging switch — the internal EVSE-side relay state the vehicle reads back during the J1772 handshake to confirm charging current is actually being enabled — does not read the expected open/closed state at the point in the sequence the control module expects it. The most common physical causes are a corroded or unseated connector at the switch-sense input, a chafed low-voltage signal wire between the charge inlet and the control module, and a worn switch contact that no longer makes reliably. Because this switch reports the EVSE's own enable state rather than a vehicle-side actuator, an intermittent fault here can also originate at the charging station rather than in the vehicle's wiring.

These 14 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 14 times.
