Code P2853 (Clutch A Pressure Discharge Performance) sets when the TCM's clutch pressure monitoring finds clutch A or B charging, discharging, engaging, or disengaging outside its expected pressure or time window, engaging too fast or too slow, or hydraulically stuck engaged/disengaged. Causes are low or aerated transmission/hydraulic fluid, a leaking clutch piston seal bleeding off apply pressure, a sticking pressure-control spool in the mechatronic unit, or a glazed clutch pack that no longer transmits torque at normal pressure.
