Engine Oil Pressure Control Valve Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P05E8 (Engine Oil Bypass Valve Control Circuit/Open) sets when the ECM detects an open circuit, out-of-range current, or a stuck-on/stuck-off performance fault while driving the variable oil pressure control (bypass) solenoid used to switch the oil pump between low- and high-pressure modes. Causes are a failed solenoid coil, sludge jamming the valve spool, or damaged control wiring between the ECM and the valve.

These 8 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 8 times.
