Exhaust Aftertreatment System Leak
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2BD2 (Exhaust Aftertreatment System A Leak) sets when the ECM's aftertreatment pressure or flow model detects exhaust escaping from system A or B before it reaches the downstream sensors, skewing every reading that depends on measured exhaust flow. A blown gasket at a DPF, SCR, or muffler joint, a cracked aftertreatment housing from thermal fatigue, or a loose clamp are the common causes.
These 2 diagnostic trouble codes share one
detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single
authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 2 times.
