Lost Comm Infotainment Module

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation

U0161 flags loss of contact with an infotainment-domain node -- radio head unit, amplifier, disc changer, telematics/telephone module, or a similar accessory. Many platforms route these modules over a fiber-optic ring or a dedicated infotainment CAN segment rather than the vehicle's main body network, so a single damaged fiber-optic connector or a ring break can drop every downstream module at once even though each one is individually healthy -- a very different failure signature from a simple copper-wire open.

These 27 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 27 times.
