Motor Torque Sensor Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0A17 sets when the control module detects an implausible reading from the drive motor's torque sensor — a strain-gauge element mounted near the transaxle housing that measures reaction torque, evaluated against the motor's phase current and commanded torque. The most common physical causes are a corroded or unseated torque-sensor connector, chafed signal wiring where it routes near the transaxle housing, and a strain-gauge element that has drifted or failed internally from repeated torque-reversal loading. Because torque sensing feeds directly into the propulsion torque-arbitration logic, a drifted reading can produce a perceptible power-delivery smoothness complaint before it sets a hard fault.

These 5 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 5 times.
