NOx Exceedance Inducement

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2BA6 (NOx Exceedance - SCR NOx Catalyst Performance) is one of a family of diagnostic codes the SCR aftertreatment system uses to record why measured NOx output exceeded its allowed limit - empty reagent tank, interrupted dosing, poor reagent quality, low consumption, incorrect or deactivated EGR flow, sulfur poisoning of the NOx adsorber, an unidentified root cause, or a fault in the monitoring system itself - and, once enough exceedance events accumulate, activates the driver inducement (derate/shutdown) strategy required by emissions regulation. Because the underlying root cause is usually a companion code elsewhere in the aftertreatment system, the repair path starts by reading and addressing that root-cause code rather than the exceedance record itself.

These 11 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 11 times.
