PM Sensor Processor Performance
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2AB0 (Particulate Matter Sensor Processor Performance) sets when the particulate matter sensor's internal signal-processing electronics fail their self-check, or when the ECM determines conditions were not met to run the sensor's periodic self-cleaning regeneration cycle. Because the sensor's soot-collecting electrode must be periodically burned clean to stay accurate, causes include an internal processor fault requiring sensor replacement, sustained short-trip driving that never lets the regeneration heater complete its cycle, or a wiring fault to the sensor's heater circuit.
These 2 diagnostic trouble codes share one
detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single
authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 2 times.
