Shift Fork Actuator

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2849 (Shift Fork A Stuck) sets when the TCM detects an open, shorted, or overheated driver circuit commanding a shift fork actuator, a fork that is mechanically stuck, a fork moving without a command, or a fork calibration that has not been learned in a dual-clutch or automated manual gearbox. Worn synchronizer rings binding the sleeve on the fork's rail, low or degraded gear oil, and a failed fork actuator solenoid or motor are the usual causes.

These 22 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 22 times.
