Code B00A0 (Occupant Classification System) sets when the SRS module cannot get a valid reading from the seat weight sensors, seat track/recline position sensors, or occupant position sensors used to classify who is sitting in a seat and how far forward they are positioned, which determines whether the passenger airbag is enabled and how deployment force is tailored. Common causes include a seat weight sensor pad damaged by a prior improper seat removal, a corroded connector under the seat exposed to spilled liquids, or a position sensor knocked out of calibration after seat or upholstery service. Because a miscalibrated system can suppress a passenger airbag that should deploy, or enable one that should not, any seat service on this system must end with the manufacturer's occupant classification relearn procedure.
