SRS Seatbelt Buckle Tension Sensor Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code B0050 (Driver Seat Belt Sensor) sets when the SRS module cannot read a plausible signal from a seat belt buckle switch or the belt tension sensor at a given seating position -- the switch stays latched-open or latched-closed regardless of actual buckle state, or the tension sensor's signal falls outside its calibrated range. This information feeds the seat belt reminder chime, the occupant classification system, and the airbag deployment algorithm, since a properly belted occupant may receive a different deployment strategy than an unbelted one. Typical causes are a worn buckle switch contact, a connector at the base of the seat exposed to repeated flexing, or a tension sensor damaged by a prior full seat-track travel.

These 11 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 11 times.
