Torque Management Forced Shutdown
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P06AF (Torque Management System - Forced Engine Shutdown) sets when the ECM's torque-monitoring safety strategy detects an unresolvable discrepancy between commanded and modeled engine torque and forces an engine shutdown to prevent unintended acceleration. This is a safety-critical fault requiring a full diagnostic scan of the accelerator pedal, throttle body, and related sensors rather than a single-part fix, since any of several redundant monitored inputs can trigger it.
These 1 diagnostic trouble codes share one
detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single
authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 1 times.
