Vehicle Speed Sensor B Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
P2158 (Vehicle Speed Sensor B Circuit) is a secondary vehicle speed sensor, separate from the primary wheel-speed-derived signal, used by some transmissions or transfer cases as a redundant input. The ECM/TCM distinguishes a missing signal, a signal reading low, or one that is intermittent/erratic, and the leading causes are a worn tone-ring/reluctor at the sensor's mounting point, a corroded connector, and a chafed signal wire near the transmission or transfer case.

These 4 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 4 times.
