SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Camshaft Slow Response
Code P000A: A Camshaft Position Slow Response Bank 1
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P000A (A Camshaft Position Slow Response Bank 1) sets when a variable valve timing actuator takes longer than the ECM expects to reach its commanded position after a phasing request. The leading causes are degraded engine oil (low pressure or sludge blocking the oil control valve screen), a sticking oil control valve, or wear inside the phaser itself that increases mechanical slack.

This is the first procedure in the authored
consideration order, not a measured cause likelihood. Execute it only when its prerequisites
and diagnostic findings support it. Its cost and labor estimates (where known), the step-by-step procedure and the
remaining 2 procedure(s) are in the licensed dataset. Ordering context.
