System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Crank Cam Correlation
Code P0016: Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor A
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0016 (Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor A) sets when the ECM compares crankshaft and camshaft position signals and finds their relative timing outside the expected window, or cannot establish a stable engine position sync. This is most often caused by timing chain/belt stretch or a jumped tooth, a failing crankshaft or camshaft position sensor, worn tensioner/guides, or reluctor-wheel damage.
