System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Park Brake Sensor Circuit
Code P05E4: Park Brake Sensor/Switch Circuit Low
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P05E4 (Park Brake Sensor/Switch Circuit Low) sets when the ECM/BCM detects an open, shorted, or implausible signal from the park (parking) brake applied-position sensor or switch. Causes are a maladjusted or worn switch at the park brake lever/pedal, a failed electric park brake actuator sensor, or chafed wiring under the console or at the rear caliper actuator.
