System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Battery Charger Precharge Discharge Timing
Code P0D5E: Battery Charger Hybrid/EV System Discharge Time Too Long
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0D5E (Battery Charger Hybrid/EV System Discharge Time Too Long) sets when the onboard charger's own internal precharge/discharge network does not complete its resistor-limited precharge of the charger's DC output stage, or its controlled discharge after a charge session ends, within the time window the control module expects. Root causes are a burned-open precharge resistor or relay inside the charger housing, a marginal DC output contactor within the charger that cannot fully close, or a downstream short/leakage path on the charger's HV output loading the precharge circuit.
