System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: EVAP Switching Valve Stuck
Code P2451: EVAP System Switching Valve Stuck Closed
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2451 (EVAP System Switching Valve Stuck Closed) sets when the ECM commands the EVAP switching valve to redirect the monitor path and pressure/vacuum feedback shows the valve mechanically failed to move, distinct from the valve's separate control-circuit wiring fault. Debris, ice, or fuel-vapor varnish gumming the valve's internal seal are the common physical causes, and because the valve selects which leak-check path is active, a stuck valve can mimic either a large or small EVAP leak until repaired.
