EVAP Switching Valve Stuck
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2450 (EVAP System Switching Valve Performance/Stuck Open) sets when the ECM commands the EVAP switching valve to redirect the monitor path and pressure/vacuum feedback shows the valve mechanically failed to move, distinct from the valve's separate control-circuit wiring fault. Debris, ice, or fuel-vapor varnish gumming the valve's internal seal are the common physical causes, and because the valve selects which leak-check path is active, a stuck valve can mimic either a large or small EVAP leak until repaired.
These 2 diagnostic trouble codes share one
detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single
authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 2 times.
