System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Coolant Level Sensor Circuit
Code P2558: Engine Coolant Level Sensor/Switch Circuit Low
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2558 (Engine Coolant Level Sensor/Switch Circuit Low) sets when the ECM sees an open, shorted, or implausible signal from the coolant level sensor/switch in the reservoir or radiator, or the sensor reports coolant genuinely low. Causes are a failed float or conductivity-probe element fouled by coolant additive residue, a corroded connector at the reservoir, or an actual coolant leak lowering the level below the sensor's tip.
