Coolant Level Sensor Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2556 (Engine Coolant Level Sensor/Switch Circuit) sets when the ECM sees an open, shorted, or implausible signal from the coolant level sensor/switch in the reservoir or radiator, or the sensor reports coolant genuinely low. Causes are a failed float or conductivity-probe element fouled by coolant additive residue, a corroded connector at the reservoir, or an actual coolant leak lowering the level below the sensor's tip.

These 5 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 5 times.
