System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: Intake Air O2 Sensor Heater Circuit
Code P2B8D: Intake Air O2 Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 1
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2B8D (Intake Air O2 Sensor Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 1) sets when the ECM detects an open circuit, out-of-range voltage, or a performance deviation while driving the heater element built into the intake-side oxygen sensor, which must reach operating temperature quickly so EGR-rate measurement is accurate soon after startup. Unlike the sensing element itself, the heater is diagnosed and repaired separately - a burnt-out heater winding, a corroded heater-circuit connector pin, or a blown heater fuse are the common causes.
