Battery Charger Thermal Management

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P0D24 sets when the onboard charger's internal thermal-management system — the sensor and derate logic protecting its power-conversion stage — reports a temperature or cooling-performance value outside the range expected for the present charge rate. The most common physical causes are a restricted or air-locked charger coolant passage on liquid-cooled chargers, or a clogged or failed charger cooling fan on air-cooled units, a degraded thermal-interface path between the charger's power devices and its heatsink, and a corroded temperature-sensor connector inside the charger housing. Because sustained high-rate AC charging drives this component hardest, the fault often first appears as a derated charge rate before escalating to a full charge-session shutdown.

These 4 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 4 times.
