Engine Off Timer Performance
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2610 (ECM/PCM Engine Off Timer Performance) sets when the ECM's internal engine-off timer, used to judge cold-soak duration for EVAP leak testing and cold-start enrichment, disagrees with other time references such as the low-power clock or network time, or the module's power-off timer fails its rationality check. Causes are the ECM losing its keep-alive power between drives from a weak battery or corroded feed, or an internal timer circuit fault in the module itself.
These 2 diagnostic trouble codes share one
detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single
authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 2 times.
