PTO Sense Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P253A (PTO Sense Circuit/Open) sets when the ECM sees an open, shorted, implausible, or intermittent signal from the sensor that confirms actual power take-off engagement status, as distinct from the driver's enable switch or the auxiliary shutdown input. Causes are a worn or misadjusted PTO engagement sensor, a corroded connector at the transmission-mounted PTO unit, or chafed wiring routed near the driveline.

These 5 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 5 times.
