System: Powertrain (P-Code)
SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: PTO Enable Switch Circuit
Code P251C: PTO Enable Switch Circuit High
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P251C (PTO Enable Switch Circuit High) sets when the ECM sees an open, shorted, or implausible signal from the driver's power take-off (PTO) enable switch, or the switch fails a plausibility/performance check, used on commercial and vocational trucks to allow auxiliary equipment engagement. Causes are worn switch contacts, a corroded connector in the cab harness, or chafed wiring between the switch and the ECM.
