PTO Enable Switch Circuit

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P251A (PTO Enable Switch Circuit/Open) sets when the ECM sees an open, shorted, or implausible signal from the driver's power take-off (PTO) enable switch, or the switch fails a plausibility/performance check, used on commercial and vocational trucks to allow auxiliary equipment engagement. Causes are worn switch contacts, a corroded connector in the cab harness, or chafed wiring between the switch and the ECM.

These 4 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 4 times.
