Code P258E: PTO Enable Switch Performance

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P258E (PTO Enable Switch Performance) sets when the ECM sees an open, shorted, or implausible signal from the driver's power take-off (PTO) enable switch, or the switch fails a plausibility/performance check, used on commercial and vocational trucks to allow auxiliary equipment engagement. Causes are worn switch contacts, a corroded connector in the cab harness, or chafed wiring between the switch and the ECM.
