SAE Standard (Generic)
Family: PTO Shutdown Circuit
Code P251E: PTO Engine Shutdown Circuit Low
Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P251E (PTO Engine Shutdown Circuit Low) sets when the ECM sees an open, shorted, or out-of-range signal on the circuit used by PTO-driven equipment (such as a bucket truck or fire pump) to command an emergency engine shutdown when the equipment detects a fault. Causes are a corroded connector at the equipment interface, damaged wiring in the body-builder harness, or a fault in the auxiliary equipment's own controller.
