Code P2D10: Engine Pre-Ignition Above Threshold - Forced Limited Power

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2D10 (Engine Pre-Ignition Above Threshold - Forced Limited Power) sets when the ECM's knock-sensing strategy detects pre-ignition (fuel igniting before the spark event) rather than ordinary detonation, a more damaging condition that can force the ECM into a limited-power strategy to protect the engine. Common causes are excessive combustion-chamber carbon deposits creating hot spots, an incorrect or failing spark plug heat range, or fuel with octane below what the engine's compression and boost require.
