P22D4 (Turbocharger Turbine Inlet Valve Position Sensor Circuit) is the position feedback sensor confirming a sequential-turbo air-path valve (such as the turbine inlet valve) actually reached the angle the ECM commanded. The code sets when the feedback signal is missing, out of its calibrated window, or erratic; a sensor cooked by exhaust heat, a loose sensor-to-shaft coupling reading a false angle, and connector corrosion account for most cases, and the valve actuator itself is a separate diagnosis.
