Fault Family System: Powertrain (P-Codes) 6 SAE Codes

DCT Clutch Overheat Adaptive

Diagnostic & Technical Explanation
Code P2787 (Clutch A Temperature Too High) sets when the TCM's clutch-energy model calculates a clutch (A or B) has exceeded its temperature limit from slip energy, or the adaptive learning that compensates clutch wear has reached the end of its adjustment range. Both point to a friction system near the end of its service life: repeated stop-and-go creep or towing overheats the clutch, and the adaptation limit means the disc has worn past what software can compensate, so inspection and likely clutch replacement follow.

These 6 diagnostic trouble codes share one detection mechanism and one repair path, which is why MechanicDB groups them into a single authored fault family rather than repeating the same explanation 6 times.
